This unique event will exhibit 10 distinctive art pieces that local and regional artists meticulously crafted, all inspired by the spirit of Carlsbad.

Breathing New Life into Old Surfboards: Unveiling Carlsbad through Recycled Artistry

Each artist has used a repurposed surfboard as their canvas, interpreting Carlsbad’s essence through their individual artistry and style. The mediums used range from airbrush to stained glass, acrylic to mixed media, making each surfboard a unique portrayal of our city.

These striking art pieces will be on display at Village Faire on June 17th. On June 18th, the surfboards will be relocated to various businesses throughout Carlsbad Village, so be sure to follow us for location updates!

Summer of Art

The highlight of this artistic journey will be on Sunday, June 25th, when all surfboards are moved to the 25th Annual Art in the Village outdoor art show. Taking place in downtown Carlsbad, this free community event is perfect for the whole family and stretches across four downtown blocks where State St. and Grand Ave. intersect.

“Pop Up Art: A New Experience” is a temporary art installation brought to life by the Carlsbad Village Association and generously supported by the City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office. The project aims to foster connections between the business and creative communities while encouraging the inclusion of temporary, unique art installations throughout the Village.

The ten participating artists were carefully selected after responding to a Call For Artists and presenting sketches of their proposed images.
